People and politics


Pakistan's population is around 180 million with a composition of several ethnic groups. Punjabi 44.68%, Pashtun 15.42%, sindhi 14.10%, Sraiaki speakers 8.36%, Muhajir 7.56%, and Balochi 3.57%, and other 6.28%. Pakistan’s Population is predominately Muslim. 95 % of the population is Muslim (75% sunni, 20% Shia) and minorities (Hindus and Christians) make up 5% of the population.

Pakistan has a democratic system of government, elections are held every consecutive five years; the prime minister is elected through the vote of the National Assembly. The Government is on two levels one is the federal and other is the four provinces (Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan and KPK).
